Re-Entry Permits

Re-Entry Permits provide Lawful Permanent Residents excellent protection when living abroad for extended periods of time for personal or business reasons.  Any Permanent Resident intending to remain outside of the United States for more than one year should file for a Re-Entry Permit prior to leaving the United States.  Re-Entry Permits provide one form of evidence that the Permanent Residents intends to return to the United States within a period of up to twenty-four months.  Combined with other precautions, Reentry Permits provide Permanent Residents strong protection against claims of abandonment of lawful permanent residence.

The Bae Law Group regularly counsel employees of multinational companies and other Permanent Residents who desire to live abroad for extended periods of time.  We take a holistic approach to address all necessary issues including the timing for filing Re-Entry Permits applications, corroborating documentation strategies which establish the intent to reside in the United States, and the preservation of residence for Naturalization purposes.
